We read everything sent to us, and we especially want to hear about errors.
Corrections
If a figure or a rule on this site looks wrong, send the page and what you believe the correct answer is. We check it against the primary source and fix confirmed errors promptly.
What we cannot do
We cannot give legal or tax advice, tell you whether to form an LLC in your specific situation, review your documents, or act as your registered agent. We are a publisher, not a firm. For advice about your circumstances, speak with a qualified attorney or CPA.
Where to get answers faster
Some questions have a better source than us, and going straight there will save you time.
Your state filing office. Filing fees, annual report deadlines, name availability, and whether your registration is current are all state matters. Your secretary of state's website is authoritative and we are not.
The IRS. EINs are free and issued in about fifteen minutes at IRS.gov. Questions about the S corporation election belong with Form 2553 and its instructions, or with a CPA who can see your full picture.
A CPA, before you elect. Our calculator will tell you whether an election is worth exploring. It cannot see your state taxes, your retirement plan, or your health insurance, and those can change the answer. Treat the number as a reason to make the call, not a substitute for it.
Suggestions
If there is a question we have not answered, or a calculator you wish existed, tell us. What readers ask about is the main thing that decides what we build next.
